Take action for a living wage in Iowa.

The Senate Dems introduced a bill that would raise the minimum wage to $8.75/hr. If you think that’s an insult to Iowa workers, you’re feeling the same way we are.

Take action and tell your legislators Iowans need to make a living wage.

According to the Iowa Policy Project, a single person in Iowa needs to make at least $12 hour to make ends meet. A single parent with two children would need to make over $26 an hour to make ends meet.Last year, the Senate Dems introduced a bill to raise the minimum wage to $10.10/hr. We’re going in the wrong direction.House Dems introduced HF 71 - a bill that would raise the minimum wage to $10.10/hr by 2017 with annual cost of living adjustments. This is already a compromise, but a good first step. We know we need a $15 minimum wage.

Tell your legislators to support a living wage!

Nationally, the “Fight for $15” has garnered major news and attention. In the coming months, we will be launching this campaign. Workers can no longer be left out in the cold. We can’t continue to get minimal increases that still leave people in poverty. We need a living wage – and we’re going to fight for it.
