Take action for the rights of all Iowans

UPDATE: This bill did not get brought up for debate in the House and is effectively dead this session. Good work! Iowa’s own anti-immigrant bill will move to the floor for debate in the House of Representatives.  One of the bills we are working to stop is poised for action this week, and we need your help to stop it.  (Read why here)Last week, Iowa CCI Action members filled up the House Judiciary committee meeting and stood strong against Iowa’s anti-immigrant proposal which follows the lead of failed policies from Arizona and Alabama, targeting immigrants and imposing bureaucratic burdens on businesses, local law enforcement and Iowa taxpayers. The House Judiciary Committee voted 13-8 to pass the bill, now renamed House File 2430, onto the House of Representatives for a vote.Iowa CCI Action members know that anti-immigrant bills rely on discrimination and mandate costly responsibilities to local law enforcement to distract people from real issues of jobs and worker protections, and would ultimately hurt Iowa’s small businesses and local economies.
