CCI Action caucus night results

When I left my caucus in Slater last night, I checked my social media. I saw photos from friends and CCI Action members at school gyms and community rooms across the state.I saw energy! I saw CCI Action members show up to caucus for issues they care deeply about -- clean water, healthcare for everyone, raising the wage, immigrant rights, affordable college, and fully funded education. We showed up to caucus for our candidate: Cathy Glasson for Governor. At the end of September 2017, CCI Action endorsed Cathy's campaign because she's fighting for us and with us. She's running an issue-based campaign designed to activate the new energy and participation we need to win the election and turn this state around.

Then I eagerly drove to Ames to crunch our numbers.

To back up our endorsement, we focused our organizing in 36 precincts in seven counties -- Adair, Boone, Guthrie, Hardin, Poweshiek, Sac, and Story. I'm excited by our results.

Read this Twitter thread to see how we did (as of 9:45 pm Feb. 5):  What did we learn last night?

  • That our conversations on the phones and doors about issues people care about are important.
  • That volunteer, people-powered campaigns work.
  • That Iowans are ready to stand up for a bold agenda.
  • That organizing works.

At the heart of our vision of doing politics differently is putting people and planet first. We're building an Iowa that works for everyone - everybody in, nobody out! That vision starts and stops with us. We need a people-powered movement. >> Speaking of, a huge thank you to those of you who turned out, who canvassed, who did data, who led your precinct! We couldn't have done this step with out you. <<The caucus was just a first step. We’re just getting started!
