CCI Action endorses Jaylen Cavil for HD36

Elections are a means to advance our organizing campaigns. And when it comes to racial justice and policing, we need elected officials who will ban racial profiling and ensure police accountability *with* us.

That’s why we’re excited to endorse Jaylen Cavil in House District 36, which covered downtown and parts of Des Moines west and south sides.

We believe that in our communities - no matter our race, neighborhood, background, ability, or genders - everyone deserves to feel safe in their homes and community, and free to exist without the threat of discrimination or violence.

Yet in the wake of the social justice protests following the death of George Floyd, we’ve witnessed the state legislature move to criminalize dissent and offer police immunity. Electing Jaylen to the statehouse is a clear path to advance our fight for racial justice and ending police violence.

“Jaylen is a candidate who understands the importance of people-powered movements to get things done. We need someone at the statehouse who is an organizer, believes in racial justice at his core and sees us as a partner, and who does what is right even if it means challenging his party or ‘politics as usual’.”

– Julia Rendon, CCI Action board member from Des Moines

Let's get out the vote for Jaylen and our issues!
