Voter Registration Door Knockers – Temporary Contractors Wanted

July 2021

Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement Action Fund (CCI Action) is grassroots, member-led organization that builds the power of everyday people to win social, economic, racial and environmental justice for all. We fundamentally believe that everyday people can be a powerful force for justice and that people most directly impacted by an issue should be in the driver’s seat – making decisions and taking leadership roles. We get things done on tough issues by being strategic, persistent, and by dealing directly with decision-makers.

Movement Politics – Big social change always comes from the ground up, not the top down. It comes from a mass-based, people-power movement. We use elections to challenge the establishment, change business-as-usual politics, build our power and influence, and advance our top-tier issue campaigns. We want to elect people from our ranks to public office – people who think like us, act like us – and people who are willing to co-govern with us once they’re elected.

CCI Action is seeking independent contractors to contact residents leading up to the 2021 municipal election. We are looking for individuals who work hard and have a passion for social, economic, racial and environmental justice.

Contractors will have conversations with residents about registering to vote, the political issues impacting our lives and invite them into CCI Action’s work. Contractors will be door knocking Ward 1 of Des Moines to meet Iowa CCI Action’s voter registration goals.

Start & End Date: Monday August 9, 2021 – Friday October 15, 2021

Contractors will start door knocking shifts at the CCI Action headquarters and be responsible for their transportation to the door knocking locations. Contractors will generally be expected to door knock between 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on weekdays and 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm on any weekends needed to complete the work. Each shift will be 5 hours and each week there will be 4 shifts for a total of 20 hours worked each week.

Previous door knocking experience is appreciated but not required. The first week of the contract will include a 3-day training that will cover how to knock doors and hold effective conversations with residents.
