Wage theft legislation victory!

Good news in our work to stop wage theft and for workers' rights! This session there were companion bills in the Senate and the House (Senate File 39 & House File 73). Both bills required transparency between employers and employees regarding wages and proposed stricter penalties for employers that commit wage theft. This bill went nowhere in the House, but...Senate File 39 made it out of committee and passed the Senate floor on a party line vote of 26-23. SF 39 now goes to the House Labor Committee for discussion, where we will put pressure on House Labor Chair Greg Forristall to move this bill.Stay tuned!
