Reportback: Emergency Clean Water Meeting with Bill Stowe on HF 316

Last night, our sister organization Iowa CCI, held an emergency clean water meeting with Des Moines Water Works (DMWW) Director Bill Stowe and DMWW board members Graham Gillette and Mark Wallace.Nearly 170 people packed the CCI office to join the clean water fightback! Stowe gave us the low-down on what the legislature is attempting to do with two bad bills in the House and the Senate that would dismantle the DMWW and distribute $270 million of assets to surrounding customers.Watch our live stream of the meeting below:Here are three major takeaways:

  1. These bills are not about protecting clean water. They’re all about killing the Des Moines Water Works lawsuit so that the ag industry can continue business-as-usual.
  2. It’s clear that the Farm Bureau and corporate ag industry are trying to take over our democracy for their own private gain - this is a powergrab. Click here to learn who's behind this bill.
  3. It's going to take all of us to make sure we stop this bill.
