Details to know for January 14th Rally and Lobby Day

Helpful details to help make your trip to A People First Iowa: 2014 Rally and Lobby Day on Jan. 14th extra awesome:

Parking:

Parking near the State Capitol complex is scarce. We recommend you check out the Capitol Complex Parking page to familiarize yourself with the visitor parking lots. We also recommend carpooling and giving yourself plenty of time to find parking and walk to the building. If visitor lots are full, there is free street parking to the north of the Capitol. Other street parking is metered.

Where to meet:

We'll kick off the day at 9 am in the 1st floor Rotunda of the Statehouse. You will enter on the building on the ground floor of the Capitol. After you go through security, there will be CCI greeters to point you in the right direction.

Lunch:

On your own at the State Capitol cafeteria. Or bring your lunch.

What to wear/bring:

  • Comfortable shoes, there will be lots of walking and standing
  • Show your CCI pride! Wear a CCI Action t-shirt or CCI Action colors- red, black, or white.
  • Any signs that you have that fit the message.
  • Friends! A big crowd will help send a strong message.

What NOT to bring:

You have to go through metal detectors to get into the Statehouse. So please leave your pocket knifes and such at home.

What to expect:

  • You'll stand alongside hundreds of everyday people from all across Iowa who are ready to stand up and speak out for our families, our communities, our environment and our quality of life.
  • In groups with experienced CCI Action members and staff, you will have the opportunity to lobby key legislators face to face, tell them your story, and personally ask them to take action on issues that impact you most.
  • It's powerful, important and fun. This event is far from boring and we will definitely keep you busy. It is exciting to stand up for what's right- and you'll never meet a better group of people to do it with!
