What in the world is "Taxmageddon"?

You may have heard pundits on tv talking about "Taxmageddon" or the "fiscal cliff" we face at the end of this year. The question remains - what exactly is Taxmageddon and what's at stake for everyday Iowans?Simply put, Taxmageddon is what politicos in Washington, DC are calling the combination of budget cuts and tax increases the American public face at the end of 2012 (after the election) without Congressional action. Most notable of these "causes for alarm" are the expiration of the Bush era tax cuts for everyone, the Unemployment Insurance extension ceases and automatic budget cuts to defense and health spending kick in (aka "sequestration").What remains unclear is what exactly Congress will do about these issues and what we stand to lose.
