Bedell is voice of reason on debt, taxes

We have all heard political pundits and those who signed a pledge not to raise taxes rant on about our national debt as well as their perceived need to cut state, county, city and school district budgets. However, these same voices were critically absent under the past federal administration when the national debt quadrupled. This followed a doubling of our national debt in the Ronald Reagan years. And the hypocritical part is the politicians who rant the loudest about debt now were the sames ones who created it by their votes. Their actions enriched the military industrial complex and let those who benefit greatly by government policy skate by with reduced support of that government through taxation. Now comes a voice of reason in the wilderness, former Congressman Berkley Bedell. He makes a strong argument that “Revenue Matters” in his book by the same name. In it he says: “Show me a business that ignores revenue and focuses only on cutting costs, and I will show you a business that is headed for failure. Show me a government that ignores revenue and focuses only on cutting costs, and I will show you a government that is a failure.”“Show me a business that only cuts back and does not charge forward, and I will show you a business that is headed for failure. Show me a government that only cuts back and does not charge forward, and I will show you a government that is a failure.”I agree with this analysis and will fight to reverse this steady march to failure by supporting Dave Loebsack and other progressive candidates. They see a brighter future is possible and will charge forward to enable us to get to that better place.— Stephen Tews, Bloomfield >> Visit our calendar page to find a tax day demonstration near you.  Click Like and Share below!
