Joining forces with Nuns on the Bus!

Nuns on the Bus joined CCI Action members on September 17 to canvass on raising the minimum wage! The Nuns are driving through various states so “We the People” can stand up against big money in the 2014 midterm elections. Fighting to put people before profits sure rings a bell, so we thought we'd be a good match to hit the doors for economic justice. We talked with over 100 folks about the need to secure a living wage, and how important voting this election is.

"Without receiving a living wage for their work our middle class is disappearing,  moving down into poverty, while others at the top are making millions and billions of dollars in profits.  And those living below the poverty line absolutely need a living wage if they are ever going to move out of poverty.  This is a no-brainer because EVERYONE wins by the increase: families, small businesses AND society at large."

- CCI Action member Jeanie Hagedorn

Jeanie joined Nuns on the Bus for a week and canvassed with CCI Action in Des Moines and Davenport. She walked away with wonderful insight on why raising the wage is extremely important, and why door knocking is a great way to do so!

...it's much needed and widely popular... canvassing for the minimum wage was easy."

-CCI Action member Ross Grooters

This canvassing is much needed - paying a living wage to all workers ensures we can all live with dignity and see our economy thrive.Want to have inspiring conversations and build democracy one door at a time?
