Iowa CCI Action Fund Field Canvasser

Iowa CCI Action Fund is hiring field canvassers, full or part time, through the November 2014 elections.We are looking for people who are articulate and self-disciplined, with a passion for social, racial, and economic justice.  We believe that we are all in this together, and that we are up against big-moneyed interests – corporations and the 1% - who want to control our economy and our democracy. We embrace and practice a politics of inclusion and justice for all Iowans.And, we take on big issues…and win.Much lies ahead in the next year:  pushing for a living wage for working families, cleaning up Iowa’s water crisis, closing Iowa’s tax loopholes that benefit corporations and burden everyday folks, and more.  Join us in the fight by canvassing door to door to educate more everyday Iowans, involve them in our organizing, and empower them to take action for a better Iowa.Canvasser Responsibilities:

• Holding  conversations with everyday people at their door or on the phone

• Communicating messages to raise awareness about issues and building support for CCI Action’s issue organizing and recruiting new volunteers.
• Signing-up new dues-paying members and new volunteers, and training existing members to sign-up new members.
• Entering data of canvassing results.

Qualifications:Our ideal candidate is driven, passionate, strategic, hard working, innovative, and wants to change the world.  You will work to build a strong base of everyday Iowans to address social, economic and environmental injustices. He or she will be committed to getting results in a fast-paced environment and able to handle a heavy workload without dropping the ball.

• ability to work well, and easily, with everyday grassroots people
• excellent interpersonal communication skills and attention to detail
• ability to work independently and as part of a team
• good computer skills
• organizing, canvassing, or phone banking experience a plus
• sense of humor and ability to handle rejection a plus

Compensation:Iowa CCI AF is a worker friendly organization.  We believe that our employees are assets, not expenses, and our canvassing effort is integral to building the base of justice fighters we need to win. Hourly wages start at $13.00/hr. Hours may be up to eight hours a day, five days a week.  32-40 hours a week.
