CCI Action calls for Steve King to resign

For Immediate Release: January 15, 2019 For more information:   Adam Mason, State Policy Organizing Director, 515-282-0484, adam@iowacci.org Members of Iowa CCI Action calling on racist, white supremacist Steve King to resign from office immediately   Steve King’s racist white supremacist worldview is not new and it is not a secret.  As Iowans we have become accustomed to writing King off as an embarrassment to our state. But King’s comments are not merely offensive; his worldview is dangerous, and he is trying to make it a reality. We as Iowans are committed to standing up against hate, standing up against white supremacy, and standing up against religiously and racially motivated violence and those who promote these evils. That is why we confronted King at a campaign event in Des Moines. This is a moral issue and a wakeup call. Many in politics and our government have spent years turning a blind eye to King’s explicit white supremacist worldview for their...

Greater Des Moines Partnership: #DropKingNow

Seventy-five Iowans delivered a letter to Jay Byers, CEO of the Greater Des Moines Partnership, demanding he to cancel their event with Congressman Steve King.

Days before the Nov. 6 election, this was far from a political protest.

2018 Johnson County Supervisor Questionnaire

Primary day is fast approaching! There are competitive races up and down the ballot, including for two seats on the Board of Supervisors in Johnson County. Local offices like county supervisor are crucially important. They provide tons of opportunities for leadership on our issues: clean water, living wages, climate justice, and protecting our immigrant brothers and sisters. That’s why the CCI Action board voted to survey candidates for Johnson County Supervisor: to see where they stand on our issues. We developed a questionnaire that we circulated to the three candidates. The answers we received are below. As you’ll see, two of the candidates (Janelle Rettig and Mike Carberry) answered all of the questions. The last candidate, Pat Heiden, did not answer our questions, and instead provided a general statement about her approach to governing. Mike Carberry Pat Heiden Janelle Rettig We hope you find this information valuable, and don’t forget to vote on (or before) June...
