Iowans Ready to Turn Political Revolution Into Reality

I was among the more than one thousand Iowans who recently packed into Des Moines’ HyVee Hall for “Revolution Iowa: From Protest to Power,” a day-long event organized by Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement (CCI). State and national media were drawn by speculation keynote speaker Bernie Sanders might be there to lay groundwork for a 2020 presidential bid.

But the main event for me was to see so many Iowans, from so many walks of life, coming together around people-first issues that affect us all – from housing and racial discrimination to protecting clean water and family farms – and coming up with fresh strategies to address them.

8/20 “People Powered Politics” convention: your details to know

We’re excited you’re joining us this Saturday, August 20 at First Christian Church in Des Moines for CCI Action’s 2016 Convention.  It’ll be a high energy event featuring impressive movement thinkers and doers, informative workshops, fun celebrations of our work, great like-minded people, and opportunities to build our power to change “business as usual” politics. Here are some helpful DETAILS TO KNOW:  Start time:  The convention will kick off at 8 am with registration and coffee hour. The program will start promptly at 8:30 am. We anticipate that the convention will wrap-up around 3:15 pm. At the registration table, you’ll receive a more detailed agenda packet and name badge.
