The five questions they should really ask at tomorrow’s GOP Senate debate

Don’t default on the American people

Don’t default on the American people

We must stop governing crisis to crisis. We need to open the government, raise the debt ceiling and pass a budget that increases revenue and invests in America.

That's the message CCI Action members delivered to Representative Tom Latham and President Obama as the government shutdown drags on for a third week.

Latham must re-open government – all of it

Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement Action Fund (Iowa CCI Action Fund) members were busy October 8 as more than three dozen turned out for a “No Megaphones for Millionaires” rally at the state capitol at 10:30am hosted by Iowa PIRG and Iowa Move to Amend, and afterwards more than two dozen CCI Action Fund members took their direct action straight to Representative Latham’s Des Moines office to protest his role in the government shutdown.

Top three takeaways from Dan McGrath, Director of TakeAction Minnesota

Top three takeaways from Dan McGrath, Director of TakeAction Minnesota

On Tuesday, September 17th, Director of TakeAction Minnesota Dan McGrath payed a visit to Iowa. Dan is a powerful speaker with years of experience building people power; he visited Des Moines to help us secure more wins at the Statehouse, and advance our “People-First” agenda. Over 50 Iowans packed the CCI statewide headquarters. Here’s the lessons our members loved the most: 1. Politics and elections will either happen to you – or by you. A great day to door knock!

A great day to door knock!

On Saturday, CCI Action members from the Quad Cities and around the state hit the streets in Davenport to talk to folks about clean water. It was a blast, but even more than that, we made a difference. We had some great conversations about what CCI Action members are doing to clean up Iowa’s dirty water, and how Senator Joe Seng can assist us in those efforts. And we gathered dozens more signatures for a petition we’re circulating statewide calling on the DNR to enforce the Clean Water Act in Iowa. If you joined us on Saturday, thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to take action on cleaning up Iowa’s dirty water. And if you weren’t able to join us, don’t worry – we’ve got another opportunity to stand up for clean water right around the corner! We’re holding another day of door-knocking in Davenport on Saturday, September 28th. We don’t have a time or location for the 28th yet, but I’ll send that information out as soon as we do. For now,...

Secretary of State Matt Schultz has yet to produce a single conviction around voter fraud in Iowa. He recently gained access to a federal immigration database and will soon be sending out letters to individuals whose citizenship is in question. We need more people voting in Iowa, not put up roadblocks for those who are eligible.
